Communication
Cut Through Conflict!
Learn to Resolve It & Build Trust
Whether it sounds like,
“It’s not my fault,” “You
never do it right,” or
something subtler, we
all experience conflict
on a daily basis. With
the right mindset
and skills, conflict
can be a catalyst for
open discussion and
trust rather than a destructive force. We
all have interpersonal needs and when
those aren’t met, we get defensive, and feel
insignificant, incompetent, or unlikeable.
In this interactive course, we’ll talk about
what creates conflict, explore your conflict
style, and apply what we learn to real-life
scenarios to help you move past conflicts
and build trust in relationships. You will
leave this class with enhanced collaborative
skills to put to work right away. With an MA
in communication,
Lindsay Hayes
draws
on the Interpersonal Needs Theory of
William Shultz for this fascinating class. She
has a Master Trainer certificate from the
Association for Talent Development.

Assertiveness Training for
Everyone
Assertiveness is a core life skill. The
goal is to stand up for yourself and your
beliefs effectively while retaining respect
for others. We sometimes think that being
accommodating is the only way to be
nice and that standing up for ourselves is
mean. The truth is that when you suppress
your needs, you’re more likely to blurt
your feelings in thoughtless ways or to
act out your feelings indirectly. Besides
preventing others from taking advantage
of you, being your own advocate boosts
your self-esteem. Learn what the difference
is between assertiveness, aggressiveness,
and passivity. Discover a simple formula
for expressing yourself that you can adapt
to different situations. And, in a supportive
atmosphere, fine-tune and practice your
skills through role-play.

Speaking for Success
Most of us learned to make speeches or
other presentations in a formal, rhetorical
style. But the best speakers are those who
create a human connection that is more
relational than rhetorical. Learn the steps
that effective speakers use to begin leading
an audience into engagement. Once you’ve
got them there, audiences listen differently
and stay attentive longer than if you merely
present to them. Class is highly structured,
with exercises and activities to help you
develop a short presentation that you can
practice giving at the end, time permitting.
You’ll never speak before a group in the
same way again!
Ken Hensley
knows a
bit about engaging an audience as he
regularly delivers speeches to groups of
700 or more at the Highlands Ranch church
where he pastors. Join him for this fun,
interactive class that is perfect for any type
of presentation: business, social, school
related, and more.

The Art & Science of
Reading People
A Beginner Guide to Neuro-Lin-
guistic Programming
Imagine how it would feel to have a deep
understanding of how the people in your
life operate. What words would work magic
with them? Discover Neuro Linguistic
Programming (NLP), the study of how
words and their associations become your
unconscious “programming” and create
your behavior. Learn the 10 presuppositions
of NLP that describe people’s underlying
beliefs. Discuss meta programming and see
how we “chunk” or process information.
Understand what triggers people’s actions
and how to create your own. Leave with an
understanding of how to avoid conflicts by
seeing directly into the heart of people and
situations. This class is great for teachers,
sales people, those stuck in confusing
relationship patterns, or just about anyone
who wants to learn more about themselves.

has experience in IT and
engineering and has always been fascinated

applied that curiosity to understanding how

others new ideas.
