No Fear Acrylics
Acrylics are quick drying paints that are
popular with artists and crafters alike. Learn
how to mix colors, apply paint in various
consistencies, and use specific brushes
or tools to create desired effects. Class is
designed for people who have little or no
prior painting experience; basic instructions
will be given to beginners, but those who
are more experienced can explore and paint
on their own with instructor assistance as
needed. Take home a canvas that shows
your new skills.

Batik Watercolor Painting
In just a few hours make a gorgeous
watercolor painting suitable for framing
using a batik wax resist process. Batik is an
ancient Indonesian technique of layering
wax to resist paint or dyes. Start by tracing
a prepared design (there are many gorgeous
ones to choose from) onto rice paper and
then learn how to layer the wax and paint
to build depth and color intensity. Finish
by ironing out the wax and voila! You have
a gorgeous picture ready to slip in a frame.
Lydia Rea
and
Mary Tharp
host the class.
Lydia Rea has taught the popular Bob Ross
painting classes at CFU for many years,
and Mary is also a painting teacher and
all-around crafting aficionado. You simply
will not believe how easy it is to create
spectacular results with this technique! The
materials fee covers paper, wax, and misc.
materials. See the CFU website course
description or your ticket for a few required
materials to bring.
