Evaluating Mutual Funds
and ETFs
Congratulations! You have a deferred
retirement account! Now you need to choose
the best mutual funds or ETFs to put your
money into. This class can help you make
informed choices about fund selection
based on your objectives and risk tolerance.
We will look at how to screen for funds, what
criteria to enter into a screener, and how to
evaluate the results. Using Morningstar data
sheets, we will look at metrics on individual
funds to get the most from the information
provided. Discover the importance of
diversification in selecting different funds,
and see examples of diversified portfolios
for various risk levels. Class is taught by

Life After Work
How to Create a Sustainable
Retirement Income Stream
Gain a better understanding of the
many different ways you might fund your
retirement from your investments and
how to integrate it with Social Security
benefits and/or a pension plan. Class goes
in to detail on the four main strategies
of retirement planning: living off interest
(of savings); planning for mandatory vs.
discretionary spending; using the 4% rule;
and the Bucket Method. Unlike some other
retirement planning classes, the instructor
integrates all four strategies with social
security and pensions. Taught by
Lee
Claymore
, a Certified Financial Planner with
more than 25 years in the business. Lee
also teaches two extremely well-received
classes on Social Security and Medicare
planning at CFU.

Women & Wealth
It’s Different for Women
Women often earn less than men,
participate in the work force less time than
men, and statistically live longer than men.
Women are often alone in retirement; some
never marry, are divorced, or are widowed
early on (the average age for a widow is 56).
Since women live longer in retirement, with
less in savings, and more often alone, it’s no
wonder many secretly fear becoming a bag
lady! If you’re a woman age 40 or more and
are concerned about your financial future,
this is the class for you! Topics will include
Social Security, IRAs, ROTHs, 401Ks, wills,
living trusts, and more. You’ll learn about
important financial considerations you need
to know to help create a secure financial
future.
Linda Gardner
has helped hundreds
of women gain financial understanding and
independence and is known for her ability
to help people easily understand complex
financial concepts. Class is free, but you
must register to attend.

Retirement Income, Taxes,
and You!
You may have a number of income sources
to support retirement, but have you thought
through the tax ramifications of those
income streams? People with the same
gross incomes in retirement can end up
having very different net incomes. This
class explores how you might use different
strategies both before and after retiring to
make sure taxation does not unnecessarily
diminish your retirement income. The class
focuses on understanding how different
sources of income and different approaches
can affect after tax income during the
lifetime of retirees, and not on any specific
products.
