Voice-Over Intensive
Make Money in Voice-Over
This intensive workshop prepares you to
break into the voice-over industry. Begin
with techniques in voice speech dynamics
and warm-ups. Then, look at how to create
your demo website of samples of your
voice work to get your foot in the door of
this potentially lucrative industry. What
equipment do you need to build your home
voice-over studio? You’ll rehearse and record
a range of “copy”-TV/radio commercials,
infomercials, and samples of narration,
audio-books and animation. Receive (by
email) MP3s of your four studio sessions.
Learn mic technique, interpretation and
characterization, and how to get your
demo produced. Be ready to work hard,
do homework, and get detailed critiques
of your strengths and weaknesses. Your
coach,
Bill Smith
, director of The Acting
Studio (Denver), works in stage, screen and
broadcast (for over 40 years). A member of
SAG/AFTRA, Bill earned an MFA in Directing
from Ohio University School of Theater. He
was certified as a master teacher by Arthur
Lessac, the renowned innovator of a voice
and speech system for stage, film, and
broadcast actors. Must have access to email
and a computer between class sessions.

Basic Digital Photography
Workshop
Let’s Take Some Real Pictures
You’ve got a digital camera-now let’s really
find out what you can do with it. This
class covers all the basics of rudimentary
digital camera operations such as shutter
speed, aperture, ISO, and how they work
together, the flash, and camera settings,
like automatic, time value priority exposure,
manual, bulb, and when to use them.
Discover basic rules of composition
such as rule of thirds and how to create
depth. Then really start working with the
principals introduced by taking your own
images and learning by doing. Each week
will have homework assignments to give
you lots of practice.
James Dewhirst
has
an MFA in Photography, and is a working
professional photographer and artist. This is
a comprehensive basic digital class that will
give you an excellent foundation for more
specialized classes like portraiture or macro
photography. Bring a digital camera and its
manual-any kind is okay, but a DSLR is best
and highly recommended to get the most
out of the class.
