Get Started Knitting!
Fabulous Fingerless Gloves
Knitting can be both a relaxing pastime
and a creative medium that encompasses
fashion and the decorative arts. And the
coolest thing about knitting? It’s all done
with just two simple stitches, the knit and
the purl. Master those two stitches and
learn other basics like casting on, binding
off, and seaming while making a pair of on-
trend fingerless gloves. In just two sessions,
you’ll be able to pull them on and show
them off to friends. You’ll also have all the
basics under your belt so you can move on
to more sophisticated projects.
Lisa Stavig
is an experienced and patient knitting
teacher. She has taught students of all
levels and backgrounds everything from the
basics to lace to garment projects. Join her
and keep your fingers toasty and busy! The

Some Like It Hot!
Metal Artistry in One Day
Metal is the new hot medium–literally!
Here’s your chance to feel the power of
cutting into hard steel to create beautiful
works of metal art. In this hands-on class
you will work with two types of cutting
processes, an oxy/acetylene torch and a
plasma cutter, and make two very different
pieces of metal art without the use of
welding. Finish your pieces using a blasting
cabinet, grinding and polishing, and have
the option of coloring using an acetylene
torch.
Cathy Hiatt and Diane Larson
are
working metal artists with 20 years of
experience between them. They show their
work at juried art shows in Colorado and
surrounding states and display and sell
through local galleries and co-ops. They also
create unique metal signage for businesses.
Safety is a priority in this class as students
will work with torches and sharp-edged
metal.
