Make Money in Audiobooks
A Voice-Over Workshop
Voice-over is not just about TV and radio
commercials. “Audiobooks” is the biggest
voice-over growth industry in the last
decade. Audiobook voice-over work can be
a good source of income and enormously
gratifying. This class focuses on how to
voice fiction and non-fiction books. Learn
about the equipment and software you need
for your home studio and how to set it up
cost effectively. Explore the different styles
of voicing non-fiction (history, biography,
science, e-books, self-help, etc.). Learn
how to bring alive a novel which requires
a narrator and suggestions of character
voices. Find out how to market your skills
and talent.
Bill Smith
, of The Acting Studio,
coaches in all types of voice-over and has
taught voice-over training through CFU for
nine years. In the last two years, twelve of
Bill Smith’s voice-over students have voiced
audiobooks, for pay, for a national company,
ACX.COM. Whether your goal is to build a
career in voice-over or to learn the basics
so you can volunteer for organizations like
Learning Alley (who do recordings for the
blind and dyslexic), this workshop will get
you going. Must have access to email and
a computer between sessions for homework.
