An Open Invitation
From Chris Scovil, Covenant
Enforcement Officer
An open garage door is an invitation
for property crime in Windsor
Gardens. Open garage doors
provide easy access to your property and
the property of the several other people you
share a garage bank with.
Garage doors remain open for a myriad of
reasons including another resident’s remote
control on the same frequency as yours,
misaligned or obstructed sensors, or just
plain forgetfulness.
In June, 2006, WG homeowners created a
garage door policy that required all residents
using surface parking lot garages to keep
their garage doors down and locked at all

times, except when entering or exiting the

The policy authorizes Community Response
to close individual garage doors and to
issue warnings to owners. On the fourth
warning and all subsequent violations, the
Association will issue a $50 fine per incident.
Is it a mechanical issue? Find out.
Because of the risk of criminal activity and
potential fines, heed the open door warnings
seriously and find out why your door stays
open. If you think it’s mechanical, place
a work order for maintenance
to check it. If it’s an automatic
opener issue, you are responsible
for repairs. If it’s a track, sensor or
door issue, Windsor Gardens will
make the repairs.
Close the door on criminals.
Keep your vehicle, property and your
neighbors safe. When you leave your garage,
take a moment to make sure it closes and
stays closed. When you see an open door,
call Community Response and report it, or
call your neighbor and let them know.
Close the door on criminals. Your neighbors
will thank you for it.
