The Heat is On
This summer it seems we are in a constant
heat wave. Along with the hot temperatures
it seems like we have shorter fuses when it
comes to interacting with our neighbors. If
you feel yourself getting angry easily over
the smallest things, try taking a deep breath,
getting out of the hot weather and keeping
yourself hydrated. These little steps will help
you combat this summer heat.
Please remember to keep water with
you when enjoying outdoor activities. We
respond to more heat-related emergencies
this time of year due to dehydration. Keep
yourself hydrated and try to stay in a cool
environment whenever you can. Don’t let
this heat get the best of your friends either.
Keep an eye on the people around you and
make sure everyone is staying hydrated.
You can program the Community Response
phone number, 303-364-4924, into your cell
phone – just in case you or someone you
know needs immediate assistance.
Parking Policies Enforcement
The largest number of complaints we get
concern parking. I have heard from some
residents who say they have lived here for
10 years and never been given a warning
ticket before, and now they are seeing them
around the community. I want to let you
all know, nothing has changed as far as
parking policies – what has changed is the
enforcement of these policies.
Community Response
From Euell R. Santistevan,
Chief of Community Response
around you to park without having too much
trouble getting in and out of their vehicles.
When people park on the line it can have a
ripple effect down the row in a parking lot.
(See the diagram below.) We get a lot of
complaints about this and have really started
looking for these vehicles in the parking lots.
Also, parking over the line, in fire lanes, no
parking zones and limited parking areas can
block access for emergency vehicles, and
the Denver Fire Department has urged us
to ticket violators to help keep these areas
open.
Street Parking Enforced by City
Remember that ALL street parking is
controlled by the City and County of Denver
Parking Enforcement Division and WG
Community Response has no ability to
enforce any city street violation. We urge
you to call Denver at 311 or 720-913-1600
during business hours or Denver police non-
emergency line at 720-913-2000 after hours
and over the weekend.
Refuse to be a Victim Workshop
Finally, a reminder that we are hosting a
Refuse to be a Victim Workshop in August.
It is a two-part series with classes on August
23 and August 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30
a.m. You must attend both days to obtain the
course completion certificate. We are limited
to 30 people for this class. You may sign up
through the Activities Department.
If you have any questions on parking
policies, please refer to theWindsor Gardens
Association website, Resource Center,
Policies section. Under Parking Policies you
will find everything you need to know about
the policies we enforce, including those that
have to do with RVs (Recreational Vehicles).
Keep in the Lines or Risk a Ticket
I would like to highlight the issue of double
parking in WG parking lots and the tickets
that are being written for parking on the
yellow line or over the yellow line. According
to parking policy you need to be parked
within the lines of a parking space. This
allows the vehicles that park next to you or
Vehicles parked correctly allow for everyone to have
ample space to get in and out of their car.
Vehicles parked on or over the line move all the vehicles in
the row over, causing problems for other residents trying to
park, and sometimes limiting the available spaces.
