In Remembrance
Sandra Beavin died on July 4, 2016. She lived in Building 21 for
many years and then moved to Building 32 in October 2015. She
always brought sweet treats to the office staff. She was mentioned
many times in the Windsor Life Love Notes feature two years ago
because of her many kindnesses.
Katherine “Kate” Hinrikus, Building 20, died on June 13, 2016. Kate
was a great friend and we always saw her walking the compound
each early morning when the air was fresh and cool. We will miss
her smile and Nebraska stories. She is survived by her mother,
Wihlemina Hinrikus, sister,Angela Eckhardt, brothers Daniel, Myron
and Jerry Hinrikus. She is missed.
Sandy Plummer, Building 5, died on July 19, 2016. Miss Sandy was
cherished by all her friends and family and will be missed by all who
had the pleasure of knowing her. Rest in Peace, lady.

Hiring workers
I recently hired someone to redo both my kitchen backsplash and my
master bathroom. Backsplash is done, however it is a bit shoddy with
uneven tiles. Regardless, I hired the same guy to do my bathroom.
For over 3 weeks I couldn't use the shower and was either using my
neighbor’s or the shower at the pool. Finally, I got my son involved.
My son kept me out of the rest of the project. He knows how cranky I
can get when I'm angry. After 6 weeks my bathroom is finally finished.
Here is what I should have done.
1. Asked my neighbors. If I had, I would have known a couple
upstairs paid the same guy, and he did lousy work. They had to
find someone else to fix what he messed up.
2. Asked in writing for a deadline.
3. Have the price and all that is included in writing. If I was told my
backsplash was going to be $300, why did it go up to $600?
4. Asked how many jobs my contractor was doing at the same time.
Mine is doing 8 and I can't imagine the other 7 are going well
either. He might think he's Superman, but he isn't.
5. Asked how many workers will be coming into my home. My pass
code was given to at least 4 different people. Whether by accident
or on purpose my tools were taken from my tool box.
