hen LIV Sotheby’s International Realty decided tomove offices and expand its
Cherry Creek North presence, the firm turned to Denver-based Acquilano Les-
lie to design a new workplace
and
street-level retail space in the area’s newly
minted building at 100 St. Paul. The award-winning architecture and interiors firm
specializes in creating forward-looking work environments and LIV Sotheby’s new
digs are no exception.
“We understood the need for a work environment that reflects their culture of col-
laboration and energy,” says Drew Marlow, owner and principal at Acquilano Leslie.
Moving to a larger space that facilitates teamwork allowed the company to rethink
the traditional real estate office layout. “Wewere looking for something out the box – a
fun-energized space that will still feel fresh in 10 years,” explains LIV Sotheby’s director
of operations, Katie Cooper. “We want our brokers and staff to love to come to the of-
fice. We designed a space to support that.”
Leaving traditional office hierarchy behind and aware of the new building’s abun-
dant floor- to-ceiling windows, Acquilano Leslie placed glass-partitioned private of-
fices around the building’s core with “neighborhoods” of low-paneled workstations
and common areas at the perimeter. The open plan preserves access to views and
daylight and “provides a collaborative opportunity for brokers and staff that we previ-
ously didn’t have,” remarks Cooper. Direct access from the office suite to the building’s
outdoor amenity deck is an added bonus for clients and employees.
Once off the elevator, visitors are welcomed in a reception area that “achieves a
balance between the rustic andmodern properties that the brokerage firmrepresents
in Colorado,” says Marlow of the “regional aesthetic” infused in the space. Here, a
large-format porcelain slab that emulates marble at the reception desk and a smoked
glass-walled conference roomprovide a sleek, tailored feel while the gray-washed lux-
ury vinyl tile at the floor – arranged in a herringbone pattern – is both cost-effective
and calming. The real eye-catcher is LIV Sotheby’s signature blue color and logo dis-
played on large-format suede panels applied to the reception’s feature wall.
While the ground-level retail space is still in the design-phase, Marlowexplains that
it will be used for social functions, open houses and property displays. Finishes will be
similar to the office reception area with a greater focus on technology that will con-
vey the breadth of the company’s brand. In both cases, Acquilano Leslie’s design will
deliver vibrancy to the workplace and support LIV Sotheby’s focus on collaboration.
