St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Pascagoula hosted Vacation Bible School June
6-9. This year’s theme was
“Jesus, the True Superhero.”
The program consisted
of Bible stories, videos, songs, plays, art, crafts, snacks and a pizza party. Each
student received a certificate of attendance and a treat bag at the pizza party.
Students with perfect attendance were also recognized. Violet F. Lett and Mary
Teresa Ducksworth were VBS coordinators.
Vacation Bible School was held recently for children from Holy Spirit Parish in
Vancleave and Christ the King Mission in Latimer. The theme was
“A Radical
Ride on the Wings of Prayer”
. Approximately 30 children learned about prayer
and ended with the celebration of the Holy Mass on Friday.

Seventy children signed up for Vacation Bible School this
year at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Long Beach, where
children learned about the Pope, the Keys (symbol of papal
succession), St. Peter’s Basilica, the Eucharist, the Monstrance,
how to be a missionary, how the Bible is a great treasure of the
Church, and how St. Jerome translated the Bible. The week
culminated with a closing Mass with skits and songs (
Jesus is
a Nockin

Holy Smoke
,
Audience with the Pope
, and
St. Jerome
Meets the Lion
). The children also raised $423 for CASA
(Court Appointed Special Advocates) to help provide for
foster/neglected children in our local community.
