can link all the home and community automation systems
to a central control. While this sounds very Orwellian in
concept, consider the advantages to asset management, se-
curity, and sustainability when communities are smart and
this model can be used for real-time decision-making.
The design team envisions an innovative community
where everyone is connected to individual and commu-
nitywide resource management. Standards are set and
need to be monitored. Accountability needs to be assigned.
This kind of concept relies on careful implementation and
excellent record keeping. Enter the development team that
uses the GeoLens design model to build this community. As
changes are made, there is a clear understanding of how
those changes may affect the overall goals of the project
and real-time decisions can be made.
The first step to harnessing technology to improve site
development is to begin with the end in mind. A develop-
er or contractor meeting with the GeoLens team to find a
solution can facilitate the accomplishment of their needs
while continuing to serve the community.
Ultimately, the benefits of saving time, reducing costs,
improving the accuracy of communication, and being able
to locate information quickly are the exact reasons our in-
dustry must embrace the potential of this technology as we
move forward. As the potential for our industry evolves, we
must also rise to the occasion and answer the call.
