Building in the Arts Helps Ensure Colorado’s Legacy
M
ore people are moving to Colorado ev-
ery day because of all the attractions
the state has to offer – more than 87,000
transplants moved to our state in 2014, according
to the U.S. Census Bureau. And it’s up to us to help
provide high-quality cultural amenities to appeal
to potential, new and existing residents.
Cultural amenities bring us together. Obviously
they do so when we gather to enjoy the arts, but
the process of creating these places involves a co-
operative and collaborative engagement that in-
cludes nonprofits, government, philanthropy and
private-sector business. We are experiencing this col-
laboration across our beautiful state.
Our firm engaged within the arts and culture space
during the recession (such projects helped stimulate
our economy); more recently, we’ve seen more of
these types of projects as philanthropists, govern-
ments and nonprofit organizations feel more com-
fortable expanding their reach to further develop the
arts and culture in Colorado.
The Telluride Town Stage, which has hosted count-
less musical acts over its 25 years serving as the cen-
terpiece of the town’s numerous festivals, is one such
project. The town of Telluride has opted for a new
stage for its many festivals to provide an even better
experience for concert-goers. Beginning in October,
