Each year, since Hurricane Katrina, Nativity Elementary School has held a special time of
prayer... Originally in thanksgiving for the many people who were of help and then, for the
last 6 years, in honor of Biloxi’s first responders and the mayor, city council and city workers.
This years’ prayer theme was
“Blessed are the Peacemakers.”
Those present sang, reflected on
Scripture readings and prayed the Prayer of St. Francis together. In attendance was Biloxi Mayor
Fofo Gillich, City Councilman George Lawrence, and many representatives of Biloxi’s Police
and Fire Departments. Also praying with the children were many parents and grandparents as
well as of Dr. Rhonda Clark, assistant superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Biloxi.
