KC’s Silver Rose makes stop at St. Joseph Parish, Gulfport
Knights of Columbus Council 12271, from St. Joseph Parish in Gulfport,
held a Silver Rose ceremony on Oct. 3 in the church. Approximately 40 people
attended the prayer service, including Fourth Degree KC members Father
George Murphy, pastor, who presided, and was assisted by Deacon Karl
Koberger, who proclaimed the Scripture readings and the Gospel. Members of
the St. Joseph Choir led the congregation in singing hymns.
Left, Deacon Koberger, flanked on both sides by a KC honor guard, carries
the Silver Rose into the church.
Right, Father Murphy led the rosary and preached on the sanctity of life of
the unborn.
The Silver Rose, which is traveling throughout the Diocese of Biloxi,
symbolizes the commitment of the Knights of Columbus to restoring respect for
the sanctity of human life from conception until death.
This year the Knights are “running” five Silver Roses across Canada and
the United States. The five roses come together in Texas to travel over the
International Bridge on 12 December and handed over to the Knights from
Monterrey.
