Students, a teacher and a parent recently donated their ponytails to a great cause.
Launched in 2005, Pink Heart Funds is a charity that provides wigs for children
and adults with hair loss disorders, including those receiving cancer treatments.
Students were treated to pink cupcakes and punch and received a pink tiara to
wear during the school day. Our Lady of Fatima would like to thank Rachael
Hollingsworth and Alex Price, stylists from Tanya Tancredi Salon in Gulfport
for donating their services to make the donations possible. Pictured on front

Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School, Biloxi
On September 18, the St. Patrick High School Campus Ministry Team 2014-2015
was commissioned at a school assembly. They will help lead the spiritual aspect of
the school through their actions, prayer services, skits, and directing the class
retreats. Their first skit was introducing the spiritual theme for the school year. The
theme is
“Breaking down barriers.”
The skit presented Jesus breaking down com-
mon teenage problems that build barriers between God, school, family, and friends.
Members of the team are Stephen Alexander, Ellen Collins, Hunter Cooper,
Madison Costanza, Sam Hopkins, Grant Kalil, Megan Kirkpatrick, Jasmine Lacy,
Christian Lesso, Megan LeTard, Joel Lindsey, Josh Luke, Katie Miller, Timmy
Nguyen, Leah O’Neill, Hayley Orman, Laz Quave, Chazmyn Riley, Dakota
Rolkosky, Jacob Seicshnaydre, McKenna Stone, Peyton Tiblier, Zachary Torricelli,
Elizabeth Veale and Anna Wright.
On September 14 and 15, the team attended a retreat where they spent time bond-
ing as a team and preparing for the school year. The retreat was under the direction
of their sponsors, Darlene Previto and Terry Creel, with the assistance of Father Ryan
McCoy and guidance counselor, Liz Wilkinson.

Sacred Heart Catholic High School in
Hattiesburg is pleased to announce the nam-
ing of Daniel Barron and Cody Blackledge
as National Merit semifinalists, and Sarah
McClain as a Commended Student by
National Merit Scholarship Corporation
(NMSC) officials. As semifinalists, Barron
and Blackledge join more than 16,000 semi-
finalists in the 60th Annual National Merit
Scholarship Program. These academically-
talented high school seniors have an opportu-
nity to continue in the competition for some
7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth
about $33 million that will be offered next
spring. As a commended student, McClain is
one of 34,000 who placed in the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million stu-
dents who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/
National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
At Sacred Heart Catholic High School, Barron serves as captain of the Mathletes
Team and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is a member of the
National Beta Club and served as the club’s vice-president in tenth grade. He has
participated in the Mississippi Science and Mathematics Tournament and earned first
and second place honors in ninth and tenth grades, respectively. Barron has served
on the yearbook staff and was the videographer for the varsity football team for two
years. He plans to obtain a degree in Computer Science. Barron is the son of Liz and

Jim Barron of Hattiesburg and is a parishio-
ner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Blackledge serves as senior class trea-
surer and is a member of the National Beta
Club and Latin Club. He served as junior
class treasurer and played football in the
ninth and tenth grade. Blackledge is a U.S.
Air Force Auxiliary Airman First Class and
works part-time in his father’s law office. He
plans to obtain a degree in Biomedical
Engineering. Blackledge is the son of Mary
Beth and Reggie Blackledge of Collins and
is a parishioner at St. Thomas Catholic
Church.
McClain is the Sacred Heart Catholic
School Student Body president and a member of the National Beta Club, National
Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She participates in Future Business Leaders of
America and Campus Ministry Team. McClain was a member of Sacred Heart’s
State Champion Mock Trial teams in 2013 and 2014, and Sacred Heart’s State
Champion Girls Soccer team in 2013 and 2014. She was a State Champion Track
Relay Team member in 2011 and 2012 and serves as co-captain of the varsity vol-
leyball team. Sarah plans to attend Vanderbilt University or the University of
Virginia and major in Child Psychology. She is the daughter of Pam and Carr
McClain of Hattiesburg and is a parishioner at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
