Penske Truck, W.E. O’Neil, KG Architects celebrate the opening of Denver service center

W.E. O’Neil Construction

Company of Colorado and proj-

ect owner Penske Truck Leasing

worked alongside members of

KG Architects to complete con-

struction of a 19,930-square-foot

truck service location at 10255 E.

40th Ave. in Denver.

The state-of-the-art facility pro-

vides full-service truck leasing,

consumer and commercial truck

rental and contract truck fleet

maintenance services.

“This new district location

was built to offer an excellent

customer service experience to

correspond with our region-

al growth,” said Rick Pytlik,

Penske Truck Leasing senior

vice president for the Western

Region. “We’re now centrally

located amongst our customer

base and highly visible from

I-70. We now have larger service

bays, improved rental counters,

customer lounges and an open

design that will lead to increased

productivity.”

The project required that

W.E. O’Neil construct a one-

story building with masonry

walls and steel roof framing. It

includes a storefront, reception

area, break room, private offic-

es, locker rooms, an automated

wash bay and four truck service

bays. Alternative-fueled vehicles

that utilize compressed natural

gas also can be maintained at this

location, and wireless technol-

ogy connects technicians to truck

diagnostic and analytic software.

“W.E. O'Neil is pleased to have

played a role in Penske's build-

ing program in the Colorado

market. Our team worked hard

to build a successful relation-

ship with the members of the

Penske and KG team, and the

project looks great from the high-

visibility I-70 corridor, which we

expect will add to Penske's suc-

cess in this new location,” said

Todd Guthrie, president of W.E.

O’Neil Construction Company

of Colorado.

The W.E. O’Neil team assigned

to the project included Kevin

Mullowney (project manager),

Steve Moser (superintendent),

Beth Mikon (project engineer)

and Matt Hoster (project execu-

tive).

The construction firm also

recently completed work on the

ComeSitStay Pet resort in Little-

ton.

W.E. O’Neil, with project

owner Tim Cruser and Cahn

Architectural Group, complet-

ed the pet care facility, which

features indoor and outdoor

play areas, interactive training

rooms and high-end boarding

accommodations for dogs, cats

and exotic pets. The facility also

includes a storefront, reception

area and an outdoor recreation

space with more than 14,000 sf of

synthetic turf and a dog-friendly

swimming pool, which is heated

for year-round use.

The facility is the second for

Cruser, who also has a Parker

location.

The creation of ComeSitStay

requiredW.E. O’Neil to construct

a 10,817-sf metal joist and deck

structure with masonry bearing

walls, in addition to a single-sto-

ry, pre-engineered metal build-

ing on concrete foundations.

“This job gave us a chance

to work on a hospitality project

which appeals to not just people,

but also to their pets. Meeting the

particular needs of this business

and its underserved community

was a fun and gratifying chal-

lenge,” said Mullowney, project

manager for ComeSitStay.
