Economic Development News

The Arvada Economic Devel-

opment Association partnered

with the city of Arvada’s GIS

team to create an online interac-

tive map of the city of Arvada,

now accessible on AEDA’s web-

site. The map is available for

public use and can assist com-

mercial developers, real estate

professionals and business

owners in obtaining valuable

information and data for devel-

opment and business use pur-

poses. The map is intended to

increase customer service and

promote business in Arvada by

making this information more

convenient and readily avail-

able.

The main benefit of the

Arvada Interactive Map is the

visual display of various data

layers, according to AEDA.

These map layers feature

Arvada Business Improvement

Districts, the Arvada Urban

Renewal District, city parcels,

comprehensive land use, city

council districts, floodplain and

zoning. The map provides vari-

ous imagery base maps, tools

for measuring distance and

area, and direction searching –

a hand tool that allows users to

explore the city.

The map is available on

AEDA’s website at http://

uty chief of staff to former Mayor

JohnHickenlooper aswell asdep-

KPMG LLP, a U.S. audit, tax

and advisory firm, has opened

the first of several planned

high-tech work environments

designed to facilitate the cross-

functional teaming critical to

the successful design and deliv-

ery of emerging solutions to

its clients. Dubbed “Ignition

Centers,” the environments are

modeled after leading technol-

ogy parks and business incuba-

tors around the world that fea-

ture dedicated, project-focused

workspaces designed for infor-

mation sharing, collaboration

and increasing efficiencies dur-

ing the creative process.

The new Ignition Center,

based in Denver, will bring

approximately 125 new jobs to

the area in highly sought-after

fields including data science,

enterprise architecture, appli-

cation programming, solution

development and IT integra-

tion.

“While we have offered these

types of solutions for some

time, we are now focused on

centralizing the design and

prototyping of these solutions

in collaborative workspaces

– enabled by the technology

necessary to spark innovation,”

said Stephen Chase, KPMG’s

U.S. Advisory Management

Consulting leader.

In addition to KPMG’s strong

presence in the region, Denver

was chosen as the location for

the first center because its met-

ropolitan area boasts a booming

information technology work-

force, including software devel-

opers and computer program-

mers, and is rated as a top city

for Millennials to develop their

careers, according to the firm.

KPMG plans to open additional

Ignition Centers later this year.

The Ignition Centers also

house state-of-the-art tools to

facilitate virtual collaboration

and interactive demonstrations.

Specifically, the centers are

designed to deliver capabilities

in data and analytics, digital

solutions, technology business

management, tax transforma-

tion and technology, elevating

business in the cloud and HR

transformation.
