Denver OED creates new position of chief operating officer

The Denver Office of Economic Development hired Amy Mueller Edinger to fill its newly created position of chief operating officer, a role designed to strengthen the OED’s operations and capacity to achieve its strategic plan goals for business recruitment, retention, housing, neighborhoods, strategic lending and workforce development.

“As our most senior-level career service position, Amy will work alongside all divisions to help our teams succeed,” said OED Executive Director Paul Washington in making the announcement. “Over time, this role will help ensure continuity and consistency of our critical work between administrations as well.” Edinger’s experience includes leading both public- and privatesector teams. She served as deputy chief of staff to former Mayor John Hickenlooper as well as deputy manager for the Department of Public Works. More recently, she led government relations for Kaiser Permanente Colorado, where among many duties she coordinated the region’s government relations strategy with the national program. Other past positions include policy adviser for the city of Boulder as well as legislative director to former Gov. Roy Romer.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Colorado State University and her master’s in public affairs from the University of Colorado Denver.
