Resurrection Catholic School senior, Whit Davis,
signed to play soccer with Southwest Community
College in the fall. Davis has played soccer for RCS
for the past six years. He plans to major in nursing.

junior, Rebecca Dikum, was select-
ed for the Gulf Coast Youth
Leadership Program through
MGCCC. The program fosters per-
sonal development and leadership
skills. Local business leaders deliv-
er lectures, sponsor field trips, orga-
nize team problem solving situa-
tions, and serve mentors on individ-
ual projects.
Applications for participation in the GCYL program
are distributed to local high schools in the area.
Interested high school juniors submit the completed
application and an essay outlining their philosophy of
leadership to school principals. Each high school prin-
cipal may recommend students according to respective
enrollment. Participants must have a minimum ACT
score and GPA, be active in the community and school,
and must demonstrate leadership potential.

D. Anderson in Jackson.
Throughout the week
he met the Governor,
Speaker of the House,
Representatives,
Senators, and fellow
pages from across the
state. He was able to
experience the state
government at work
first-hand.
Resurrection Catholic School senior, Larry Sisson,
signed a letter of intent to play football with
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in
Perkinston. Larry has been the quarterback for the
RCS team for four years. Coach Scott Sisson, Larry’s
dad, has been the RCS head football coach during
Larry’s years on the team. Larry plans to major in
nursing. Present at the signing are, l-r, Mrs. Kristal
Sisson, Larry Sisson, and Coach Scott Sisson.
RCS celebrated National Catholic Schools Week,
January 25-31. Catholic schools across the nation
celebrated the week with Masses, open houses, and
other activities for students, families, parishioners, and
the community at large. RCS began the week with a
blood drive sponsored by the senior class. Later in the
week, parents and grandparents enjoyed breakfast
compliments of the National Honor Society and National
Junior Honor Society. For the culminating event,
students from the high school and elementary campuses
gathered for a joint Mass celebration presided over by
Father Anthony Arguelles, Father Michael Kelleher, and
Father Thomas Joseph. Present at the joint Mass were,
l-r, Will Baumhauer (eighth grade), Emilia Kell Armond
(junior), and Clare Baumhauer (junior).
Resurrection Catholic School, Pascagoula
On Feb. 3, OLF kicked off their Jump Rope for
Heart and Hoops for Heart Event. For two years in
a row, OLF has been the #1 Jump Rope for Heart
School in Mississippi by raising the most money
for the American Heart Association. All funds
raised by this event are donated to the AHA which
uses the money for research and development of
new and improved procedures and medicines. PE
Coach, Michele Mandal, teaches OLF students the
importance of being heart healthy.
Our Lady of Fatima Elementary
School, Biloxi
This year’s theme for Catholic Schools Week was
Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge
and Service
. Students of Sacred Heart had a week
of fun activities, students came dressed up as a 100
year old person which coincided with the 100th day
of school. They wore their favorite
Socks for God,
Dressed their Best for Jesus
, students dressed for
Career Day, dressing up as what they hope to be
when they grow up. Lastly students, faculty and staff
wore a tie,
Tied to our Faith
. The faculty and staff
were treated to lunch with parent volunteers helping
in the classrooms and during lunch time. Students
also sent thank you’s to community helpers and to
the Religious of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for
