During Catholic Schools Week, Catholic schools
were celebrated all across the USA. On Monday, the
students wore hats to “ask the Holy Spirit to guide their
thoughts.” Another activity was a Classroom Door
Decorating Contest. This year’s winner was Jennifer
Mink’s class. On Tuesday, the students wore crazy
socks to “walk in the footsteps of Jesus.” Also they got
footprints and wrote on them some way they could act
like Jesus. For School Spirit Day, they wore school
colors and even saw Ted E. Knight, our school mascot.
In the classrooms on Thursday, students focused mainly
on “Service to God” and made posters to show they can
serve others. On Friday, they were on Team Jesus by
wearing their favorite team jerseys. Also they partici-
pated in a Praise and Worship service singing songs and
having fun. The students can now ask themselves if
they did ask the Holy Spirit to guide their thoughts?
Did they walk in the footsteps of Jesus? Did they serve
God? Are they still on Team Jesus?

Did you ever wonder what teachers do all day?
Some students found out this past week by being
teacher for the day. Kennedy Kuntz said she liked being
Adam Chapman because she got to teach the class and
play with the preschoolers. She also liked helping him
get organized. Kendall Desporte said he liked being
Phyllis Seal because he could run errands and collect
money at lunch and run around the school all day. The
down side of being teacher for the day is that the stu-
dent has to make up their school work at home. Susan
Hughes and Tara Meleones said they like it because it
shows the students what teachers do and it allows them
to have a teacher’s experience.

Holy Trinity Catholic School, Bay
St. Louis
In honor of Catholic Schools week, Holy Trinity
Catholic School participated in the 2015 Chili
Cook-Off presented by the Rotary Club of Bay St.
Louis. Participants included Janet Buras, Martha
Merrigan, Kathleen Jenkins, Vicki Favre, Christy
Carter, Michelle Logan, and Cindy Knoblock. The
school won second place for presentation. Their
booth was decorated as, what else, a classroom. Four
student desks led up to the teacher’s desk where the
Jalapeno Popper Chicken Chili was served. The
blackboard listed spelling words (which were the
main ingredients in the chili) and a math problem
using the ingredients. Homework was to visit Holy
Trinity’s Soiree on the Bay and to register for next
school year. The staff agreed on how much fun they
had at the cook-off.
St. Alphonsus’ Knights of Columbus Council 5654,
