Led by Student Council, Sacred Heart’s annual
high school Thanksgiving food drive provided 730
food items and a $250 cash donation to the Pine
Belt Association for Families. Student Council
members presented the donations to Sylvia Forster,
agency director, on November 22nd. Pine Belt
Association for Families is a United Way agency
which provides assistance to grandparents and
other relatives raising grandchildren in four South
Mississippi counties. Above, pictured are student

Sacred Heart Elementary and High Schools, Hattiesburg
Sacred Heart High School Senior Auna Bilbo was one of 800 cheerleaders who participated
in the 87th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 21st. Bilbo and her family
enjoyed a week of activities in New York City while preparing for the parade. She was selected
to participate during last summer’s Universal Cheerleading Association camp at the University
of Southern Mississippi.
Bilbo is captain of the Sacred Heart Varsity Cheerleading squad and has been cheering
since 7th grade. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Campus Ministry
Team and Grassroots Environmental Club. She was named a UCA All-American Cheerleader
for three years. Auna is the daughter of Jennifer and Matthew Bilbo of Purvis and attends St.
Thomas Aquinas Parish. Following graduation in May, she plans to attend Mississippi State
University and major in Marketing.

Sacred Heart Elementary students recently held a fundraising
drive to help the St. Vincent de Paul Society purchase turkeys
and fresh food items for annual Thanksgiving food baskets.
The drive began on November 13 with “Kick-Off” Day, when
students were allowed to wear out of uniform shoes with their
school uniform for a $1 donation, and ended on November 20
with “Too Cool for School” Day, when students were allowed
to wear their favorite cap for a $1 donation. Students were
also urged to do extra chores at home or give up a treat to earn
money for the week-long collection drive. At the end of the
drive, students had collected $3,619.97. A check was presented
to St. Vincent de Paul representatives during the November 21
school Mass. Third grade teacher Nora Rempel coordinated

Saint Stanislaus Junior Varsity Cheerleaders Jordan
Cruthirds, Alexandra Healy, Claire Lundgren,
Kyleigh McNeil, Grace Nicaud, and Madeline
Samson performed during the 64th Annual
Thanksgiving Parade in Houston, Texas, as part of
the UCAAll-Star Cheerleaders. Jordan, daughter of
Mr. & Mrs. Chris Cruthirds of Pass Christian, MS;
Alexandra, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George Healy of
Gulfport, MS; Claire, daughter of Mr. &Mrs. David
Lundgren of Diamondhead, MS; Kyleigh, daughter
of Mr. & Mrs. Andrew McNeil of Diamondhead,
MS; Grace, daughter of Mr. &Mrs. Lloyd Nicaud of
Diamondhead, MS; and Madeline, daughter of Mr.
& Mrs. Roland Samson of Pass Christian, MS, were
selected as All-Star cheerleaders during the UCA
Cheer Camp in July 2013.

Resurrection School Key Club members
participated in National Wreaths Across America
Day on December 14 by placing fresh wreaths on
the graves of veterans at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Wreaths Across America began twenty years ago,
and its mission is to “Remember, Honor, and Teach”
about the services and sacrifices of our veterans,
active military, and their families. Ben Blackburn is
shown placing a wreath.
