received special honors at the
ACEC National Fall Confer-
ence.

Christie, PE,
was elected to the
ACEC Col-
lege of Fel-
lows, head-
quartered in
Washington,
D.C. As a fel-
low, Christie
is among
a distin-
guished class
of engineers
who have
been selected by their peers
as deserving recognition for
exemplary contributions to the
engineering profession.
Lauren Evans, PE,
president
of Pinyon Environmental Inc.,
was inducted to the Order of
the Engineer,
a national
organization
dedicated to
upholding
the standards
and dignity
of the engi-
neering pro-
fession. OOE
emphasizes
pride, indi-
vidual integrity and responsi-
bility in the engineering pro-
fession, and members receive
a silver ring that serves as a
visible symbol identifying an
engineer to the public.
Jessica Garcia, PE,
a lighting
engineer at Clanton & Asso-
ciates Inc., was among five
engineers who were recog-
nized by ACEC as 2015 Young
Professionals
of the Year.
This honor
recognizes
the talents
and abilities
of young
engineers
who are
advancing
the consult-
ing engi-
neering profession and whose
contributions are significantly
impacting society.

Mortenson
grew its Denver
infrastructure team with the
addition of
Josh Williams,
construction executive, and
Max Brandt,
business devel-
opment manager, both of
whom joined the firm from
Mortenson’s Minneapolis
office.
Williams brings additional
support and
focus to
manage the
team at the
construction
and develop-
ment servic-
es company,
while Brandt
enhances
the project
development
efforts. The team also includes
Brent Sampson, senior proj-
ect manager, Bruce Spott and
Brian Nelson, superintendents,
and Sean O’Grady, project
engineer.
Currently, the group is lead-
ing the infrastructure con-
struction for Sterling Ranch,
a 3,400-acre development in
Douglas County, among addi-
tional projects.

Robert Kochevar
was
appointed a senior traffic engi-
neer in the Denver office of
WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff,
a
global engineering and profes-
sional services organization. In
his new posi-
tion, Koche-
var will
manage traf-
fic engineer-
ing projects
throughout
Colorado.
Kochevar
came to the
firm from the
Department
of Public
Works of the city and county
of Denver, where he worked
since 1990.
Most recently, he was dep-
uty manager of public works
with responsibility for lead-
ing the street maintenance,
solid waste and wastewater
operations groups. Previously,
he was the FasTracks liaison
responsible for coordinating
activities between Denver and
the Regional Transportation
District for six new FasTracks
corridors and Union Station.
He also served as city traffic
engineer from 2000 until 2007
with responsibility for manag-
ing the agency in charge of
all design, management, and
policy for traffic control for the
street network within the city
and county.
Kochevar received a Master
of Science in civil engineering
from the University of Colo-
rado and a bachelor’s degree
in engineering from the Uni-
versity of Illinois.

Palace Construction
recent-
ly added five senior executives
to its team:
Brad Batchelder
and
Chris Derington
as proj-
ect superintendents;
Kyle Fink
as restoration project manager;
and
Erek Swanson
and
Tan-
ner Weatherbee
as construc-
tion project managers.
As project superintendents,
Batchelder and Derington will
be responsible for supervising
the firm’s construction and
restoration projects, including
on-site supervision and work-
ing in tandem with the project
managers to review construc-
tion programs.
Batchelder joined the firm
with more than 15 years of
experience in construction and
design management. Previous-
ly, he was the project super-
intendent at Fransen Pittman
Construction and prior to that
he served as project manager
for Lefever Building Systems.
Derington brings extensive
historical renovation and res-
toration experience and has
held the position of superin-
tendent on a number of major
construction projects across the
state.
As project managers, Fink,
Swanson and Weatherbee will
supervise each project and
serve as the firm’s representa-
tives on the owner-architect-
Palace team. This includes esti-
mating, purchasing, engineer-
ing, accounting and construc-
tion functions as they relate to
the completion of each project,
as well as maintaining effective
relations with the owner and
architect for each new develop-
ment. They each join Palace
with previous management
and hands-on work experience
within the industry.

Michael Stone, PE,
joined
Shaffer Baucom Engineering
& Consulting,
a mechanical
and electrical
engineering
design firm,
as electrical
department
head.
Stone has
more than
25 years of
consulting
engineering
experience
in a variety of built environ-
mental projects, including data
centers, mission-critical federal
and military facilities, tele-
communications, commercial,
light-manufacturing, aviation,
transportation, education, resi-
dential, health care and high-
rise properties.
He is a senior electrical engi-
neer and project manager and
specializes in the planning and
engineering of power distribu-
tion, standby and emergency
power supply, uninterruptible
power supply, grounding,
lighting protection, fire alarm,
lighting and lighting control
systems for new buildings and
building renovations. He also
has extensive experience in
project engineering and man-
agement for both prime and
subconsultant projects.
