Ama Dablam, a 22,349-foot peak
in the Himalayas. One of his
most unforgettable travels was
spending a week living off the
land in the Amazon jungle. “I
like to try to get to places that are
off the beaten path and explore
things I haven’t seen and differ-
ent cultures,” he said.
He is very close to his brother
and sister, and he and Ballenger
also are great friends. “We have
a great partnership, but we also
are really good friends.
Jeremy does bring some great
skills that didn’t exist before.”
“I take work really seriously,
but I take play really seriously,”
said Carner. “I like to think
of fun adventures to do with
friends, or little pranks to do
around the office,” he said,
recalling how he and teammate
Dustyn Connelly replaced the
cream filling in the office’s Fri-
day morning doughnuts with
ketchup, mayonnaise and tooth-
paste on April Fool’s Day. They
once sent out an announcement
about the child Bolt supposedly
adopted on his way to Belize.
They chose the Spanish “name”
Relámpago, so that the child’s
name would translate as Light-
ning Bolt.
“That was good,” said Bolt,
laughing. “I received congratula-
tions from people who I hadn’t
heard from in a very long
time.”
