Ian Nichols of Gart Properties was

voted Developing Leader Member of

the Year. “Ian is a critical thinker and is

always looking for opportunities to help

the company expand and grow,” said

Josh Brgoch, Gart chief financial officer.

“He is never reticent to take the reins to

accomplish a task when it needs to be

done,” added Kathie Barstnar, NAIOP

Colorado executive director.

The Union Station Alliance walked away with the 2014 Deal of the Year Award for

its redevelopment of historic Denver Union Station. From left are Sherri Goldstein

Celeste Tanner of Confluent

the Trailblazer of the Year

award recipient, presented

to NAIOP members 35 and

younger. Tanner has been

involved in more than 2.5 mil-

lion square feet of ground-up

development across all prod-

uct types in just over 10 years

in the industry.

Sen. Jessie Ulibarri, D-Denver,

accepts NAIOP Colorado’s

James. T. Brubaker Legislative

Award, in part for his efforts

to reform construction defects

statutes. Also receiving the

award was Sen. Bill Cadman,

R-Colorado Springs, who was

called a champion of free

enterprise, business develop-

ment and reducing red tape.

accepts NAIOP Colorado’s

Member of the Year Award.

Warthen serves on NAIOP’s

Membership and Legislative

Affairs committees and is a

welcoming presence at chap-

ter events.

Walter A. “Buz” Koebel Jr. of

Koelbel and Co. addresses

the crowd after being selected

for the prestigious President’s

Award for Community

Leadership. In addition to devel-

oping projects including the

1,000-acre Rendezvous resort

in Winter Park and Industry

in River North, among others,

Koelbel is a “tireless advocate”

for Colorado, education and

“economic freedom.”

IMA’s headquarters and One Union Station shared honors for Office Development of the Year. Accepting the awards, with Land

Tim Richey, left, and Mike Winn of

CBRE took the Investment Broker of the

Year title. The team completed 25 trans-

actions totaling $858 million in value,

close to half of the total office volume in

the Denver metro area.

The Land Brokers of the Year are Mike

Kboudi, left, and Jim Capecelatro of

DTZ. They were responsible for the sale

of more than 700 million square feet of

land in Colorado in 2014.

Verve, a 258-unit development in down-

town Denver owned by Amstar Group

and developed by Opus Development,

was the Multifamily Development of the

Year. Accepting the award from Amstar

Group are, from left, Jenny Skelton and

Kim Sperry.
