such as Denver International Airport’s Westin Hotel and
Transit Center to light-flooded office buildings framing
Front Range views that are distinctly Denver.
As an international design powerhouse, the entire Gens-
ler network grounds much of its creative thinking on
demographics, societal trends and human behavioral re-
search to create a design starting point with a “now” vibe
that eagerly takes into account novel amenities and pur-
pose-built spaces that are future-trending.
For example, when the Denver office decided to move
to its new home at 1225 17th St., right between the central
business district and Lower Downtown, the staff put itself
through the same strategic and creative planning process
used with clients to determine budget, custom needs and
functionality. An in-house collaborative team took a hu-
man-centered look at how employees use spaces for vari-
ous work styles and socialization. Not surprisingly, Denver
executed on several of Gensler’s metatrends, including an
office that facilitates mobility, collaboration, ubiquitous
technology, and even a health and wellness component.
For its new space, which opens onto a bustling outdoor pla-
za, the Denver team designed highly customized collaboration
