However, the one thing that has not altered is the value of – community. Being part of an engaging community is vital to the platform of personal well-being, happiness, and health. It is also food for the soul of the association. Having a sense of community embraces pride which is an essential element of a healthy and promising community. It enables us to impart personal relatedness and contribute to the perpetual growth of others and our community. So many of us have been impacted by changes around us. After a tough two years with the global pandemic, current inflation rate, lack of staffing, and supply chain issues, the engagement and approach of reestablishing and evolving communities is essential. The idea of fostering an enhanced community has never been more important to the Board and staff as it is today. In the past six months, the staff and the board have worked together collaboratively to focus on the evolution of the community and the culture. With the international economic struggles, this year has taught us even more ways to lead and operate our companies and communities more safely and methodically. Staff is still working and continues to explore development projects that were paused due to the challenges of COVID. The big changes we hoped to have achieved are leaving us in a constant state of delay and change. Today, we are faced with the daily task of analyzing the impacts of proceeding forward with projects and how to best facilitate moving forward. But we have embraced the unexpected and look at the challenges as opening up new possibilities. There are many great examples of communities across the state that have faced the adversity of these situations and taken the opportunity to modify their development processes and community engagement. Despite these challenges, Leisure World staff and Board are extremely passionate about this community. That brings us to ask the question, how can these projects move forward, bringing past and present into future growth opportunities for the residents of Leisure World? With the summermonths upon us, work still proceeds. While dredging the lakes, repairing roofs, modernizing landscaping, repairing infostructure, assessing technology specifications, street repair, and continuing day-to-day operations, the team works to prepare for long-term impacts. With setbacks in projects, we also discover unanticipated serious issues that challenge staff to move forward from the difficult lessons of the past two years, in an effort to build a stronger, more resilient future. As certain setbacks occur, the staff is looking to go beyond and expand the level of what our current toolbelt has in it. The staff continues to focus on the ways to not only achieve the projects and objectives already established but to advance our culture and expand on how we conduct our operations and resident services. Each day we take a step forward, we discover something new. The goal is for the residents to see and feel the positive impact of our work in their community every day. We have been working over the past six months and continue to focus on ways to increase Communication, Transparency, Collaboration, Improving Safety, Enhancing the Community Look, Enhancing Community Activity, Attracting and Retraining Employee Talent, and most of all, keep the focus on the members. In addition, we are concentrating to tackle some big issues facing our association as they emerge in the community, from aging infrastructure; change in generational owners with different expectations; changes in surrounding economical development; inflation and rising expenses; keeping up with technology; educating people about community associations; finding people to serve on the board and overall operations as times change. By examining these issues and incorporating the continued improvement goals and operations we are focusing on, we can be sure to provide a positive, stable, and developed community. There are somany positive aspects tobeingpart of the Leisure World community. There are ample and unique opportunities for people to enjoy their lives, be active, and simply enjoy and live their best life here in their community. I would be remiss if I did not thank all the Leisure World residents for the support, encouragement, ideas and input that you have provided. We have a great group of people who truly care about our community. Whether you have left for the summer or are staying to enjoy 115-degree weather, our objective is to continue to communicate with our residents, provide updates as to what is happening, and key information about our wonderful community. You can stay updated via the LWCA newspaper, email blasts, electronic displays, and various social media platforms. -Jason Doll, LWCA Community Manager Leisure World Mailboxes: Under the Leisure World Architectural Control Rules and Procedures it is stated that all mailboxes in Leisure World shall remain BLACK when they are repaired or replaced.
