Friends of Panola Mountain
Hike
will be held Wednesday,
June 1, from 9 a.m. until noon
each day. More dates to be an-
nounced. Take a guided hike
through the restricted Conserva-
tion Area and up to the summit of
Panola Mountain. This is a 3-
mile, moderately strenuous hike
that offers a variety of beautiful
views. All proceeds go to
“Friends of Panola Mountain
State Park,” a not-for-profit
group of volunteers that work
diligently to support the park and
it’s programs. The cost is $5 cash
and $5 parking.
Intro to Tree Climbing
will be
held June 18 and July 16 from 1 -
5 p.m. daily. More dates to be an-
nounced. Join them “on rope” for
an adventure exploring the
canopy above. This is an intro-
ductory program to recreational
tree climbing. Participants will
use rope and harness to ascend
into a 200+ year old Southern
Red Oak, where they can climb,
swing, and scramble. Climbs start
at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Must call to
register. Ages 8 and up. $15 plus
$5 parking.
Intermediate Archery
will be
held Sunday, May 29 from 2 until
4 p.m. Improve your archery
skills in this class that focuses on
accuracy and shooting farther
distances. Students must attend
three basic archery classes before
attending this program. Equip-
ment is provided. Meet at the
pavilion by Alexander Lake.
Ages 9 and up. Must call to reg-
ister and pay in advance. $12 plus
$5 parking. Handicapped Acces-
sible.
Advanced Archery Class
will
be held on Saturday, May 28
from 2 until 4 p.m. This course is
for individuals who have com-
pleted their basic and intermedi-
ate classes. Panola is now
offering advanced archery classes
on our static and 3-D ranges. Par-
ticipants must call to register and
pay in advance. $12 plus $5 park-
