Special to The Times
The Central Georgia EMC
Foundation awarded a grant
totaling $3,000.00 to MM Hope
House. These funds will be used
to purchase computers, books,
and course materials for their
Pathway to Success program.
Through Operation Round Up,
each participating Central
Georgia EMC customer-owner
makes a small monthly contri-
bution by electing to have their
electric bill rounded up to the
next dollar. The change con-
tributed is then distributed by
the Central Georgia EMC
Foundation to qualifying chari-
ties in the CGEMC community.
Together, these small amounts
will make a big difference.
The CGEMC Foundation is
accepting applications, which
are
available
online
at
or can be
picked up in person at the
CGEMC office at 923 S.
Mulberry St. in Jackson. Any
eligible organizations seeking
assistance in CGEMC’s 14-
county service territory are
encouraged to apply.

Where in the world is the Times?
This week the Times traveled to Gaborone, Botswana with
James Banaski, Jr. of McDonough. James work for the CDC and
was there working with the Ministry of Health to help them
develop a public health emergency management program,
which includes an outbreak response program and an
Emergency Operations Center. James said, “I didn’t get much
of a chance to travel while in country but I did get a chance to
visit the Mokolodi Nature Reserve in Gaborone, Botswana.. The
food is great, especially the steak! It was my second trip this
year, and I will be going back later this year. I am also scheduled
to visit Zambia, Belize, Guatemala, Columbia, Jordan, and
Saudi Arabia later this year.”
