E lizabeth S eton P arish , O cean S prings Evangelization Retreat “Come and See” Women #1 On Saturday, September 11, 30 women from St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Ocean Springs attended an Evangelization Retreat at St. Augustine Retreat Center in Bay St. Louis. It was a grace-filled experience encountering Christ and reflecting on the call to become intentional disci- ples of Jesus. The retreat is the first step the parish is taking to fulfill the invitation of Missio Nostra -- OUR MISSION . The team was formed by: Ashley Fayard, Sharon Galle, Millie Hill, Caroline Knight, and Gina Cazaubon. Fr. Sergio Balderas is thankful for these five women who believed and gave themselves to this project for Evangelization. The follow up after the retreat is to form faith-sharing com- munities that will learn how to grow in a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and how to evangelize others by using material such as: Discipleship Quads or the Be My Witness program. The closing Mass was celebrated Sunday, September 12, at the parish with the community and friends. The next Evangelization retreat for woman is on February 12-13, 2022. On Saturday, August 7, 28 men from St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Ocean Springs attended an evangelization retreat at St. Augustin Retreat Center in Bay St. Louis. It was a grace-filled moment encountering Christ and reflect- ing on the call to become missionary disciples. This retreat is the first step the parish is taking to fulfill the invitation of Misio Nostra -- Our Mission . The team was formed by only four members of St. Elizabeth Parish: Bill Oster, Fred Ostin, Roberth Gutherz, and Dominic Barberie. Father Sergio Balderas, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton, is thankful for these four men who believe and give themselves to this project of evangelization for the parish- ioners. The structure of the retreat is designated to initiate a journey of mis- sionary disciples of Jesus Christ. The follow-up for these retreats is to form faithsharing communities that will learn how to grow in a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and how to evangelize others by using materials such as: Discipleship Quads , Be My Witness , The 99 Sheep , ARISE: Together in Christ . Duffour (LA), Rodney L. Sandoz II (MS), and Eric J. Pelton (TN). On Saturday, August 28, Rodney L. Sandoz II of Long Beach was invested into the Order of the Fleur De Lis in Memphis, TN. Commander Sandoz and his wife Lady Mena are active members of St. St. Thomas the Apostle. Commander Sandoz is retired from the United States Air Force and currently employed with FedEx. The Order of the Fleur de Lis is an organization of Catholic men incorporated under the laws of the state of Louisiana as a not-for-profit organization. The Order’s domain is a five-state-region consisting of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. The objectives of the Order include: Supports and defends the Holy Catholic Church and its teachings; promotes patriotism and good citizenship, encourages public morality and unselfish service to God and country; assists and publicizes the activities of other organizations which also promote the above; memorializes and popularizes the memories and achievements of Catholic leaders in religion, the arts and sciences, philanthropy education, exploration and archeology, government and international relations, medicine and jurisprudence and other established professions. The Order of the Fleur de Lis encourages and recognizes leadership in living the val- ues and principles of our Catholic faith by presenting the Msgr. Joseph Susi Award of Honor to an individual who has excelled as a Catholic leader in any one of the following: religion, family values, youth, aging, politics, patriotism, the arts and sciences, education, philanthropy, public morality, management-labor, the media, or medicine and jurispru- dence Other Knight Commanders in the Diocese of Biloxi include David Atteberry and Norman McDonald.
