Kihneman celebrated the 9 a.m. Mass at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral in Biloxi, at which RCIACatechumens celebrated the Rite of Sending Forth and the Breaking Open of the Word. The Catechumens and their sponsors gathered for a photo with the bishop after Mass. Students are reminded of the events that occurred during The Passion and Crucifixion. Stations of the Cross will be held every Friday during Lent at 2:15 p.m., ending on March 23. Sacred Heart Hattiesburg senior Sohbian Thriffiley Named National Merit Finalist HATTIESBURG -- Sacred Heart Catholic High School is pleased to announce the naming of August Sohbian Thriffiley as a National Merit Finalist by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) offi- cials. As a finalist, he was selected from more than 16,000 Semifinalists in the 63rd Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered later this year. At Sacred Heart Thriffiley is a member of the STEM Team and Quizbowl Team. He placed in the top 20% of com- petitors at the Mississippi Math and Science Competition, and has also competed in the Future Business Leaders of America’s regional com- petition, placing 1st in Sports Management. He serves as reporter for Mu Alpha Theta and is a member of the Student Council and Beta Club. Thriffiley is a varsity football and powerlifting letterman for Sacred Heart as well. As a volunteer, Thriffiley has worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Hattiesburg Historic Neighborhood Association, and has served as an intern in the University of Southern Mississippi’s Psychology Department Zebrafish Neurology Lab. He is the son of Lhay and Tate Thriffiley of Hattiesburg. Thriffiley plans to attend The University of Alabama and major in Engineering. Thriffiley
