2 Gulf Pine Catholic • March 9, 2018 D iocesan E vents March 9-10 KC Marketplace of Arts, Crafts and Collectibles PICAYUNE -- The ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 6872 will hold its 5th annual market- place of crafts, collectibles and art March 9-10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall (behind Dockside Restaurant), 408 Carroll Street. The Ladies Auxiliary will have a variety of food for purchase. Food purchases are for either dine in or take out. The menu will include egg casserole, chicken and sausage gumbo with rice, seafood maca- roni salad, chicken and sausage jamba- laya, meatball with provolone cheese, pulled pork and tuna salad sandwiches, white chocolate bread pudding served on Friday and traditional bread pudding served on Saturday, along with iced tea and coffee. There will also be local authors, door prizes and a parade of prizes. This is a dinner and a story that passes on impor- tant Biblical truths about Jesus and the last day of his life. The only requirement is to bring a covered dish to help com- plete the meal. March 16-18 2018 Catholic Charismatic Healing Conference METAIRIE, LA -- “I Am the Lord Your Healer” is the theme for the annual Southern Regional Conference of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, March 16-18, at the Copeland Tower Suites and Conference Center (formerly the Best Western Plus Landmark Hotel) in Metairie. Well-known speakers and authors include: Johnnette Benkovic, Fr. Mark Goring, Bob Canton, and Danny Abramowicz. Also featured will be Fr. March 17 Workshop on Centering Prayer BAY ST. LOUIS -- The William J. Kelley Retreat Center of Bay St. Louis will offer a workshop on centering prayer on Sat., March 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Centering prayer is a method designed to facilitate the development of contempla- tive prayer. Trappist Fr. Thomas Keating OCSO, of St. Joseph’s Abbey, Snowmass CO, is a renowned teacher of centering prayer. This workshop is based on his teachings. Cost is $15 per person. March 18 17th annual Irish Italian Festival and Parade HATTIESBURG -- St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg will hold its 17th annual Irish-Italian Festival Saturday, March 17 on the church grounds, 3117 West 4th Street. The festival’s “Roll N’ Stroll” parade is at 10:30 a.m. and the festival is from 5-10:30 p.m. at the church, following a 4 p.m. Mass. Admission is free to these events, with tickets for food and drink items available for purchase at the entrance. The parade begins at Hillcrest Residence Hall, located on the service road by the University of Southern Mississippi campus and Highway 49, then begins at 10:30 a.m., proceeding west from the edge of the USM campus toward the church which is located across from USM’s Reed Green Coliseum. The festival will feature games for kids, a silent auction and an art show featuring the work of some of the Pine Belt’s best local artists, including beauti- ful work by local schoolchildren. The menu for the event includes Irish stew, spaghetti and meatballs, sausage dogs, pizza, cotton candy, spirits as well as a variety of deserts. Complimentary soft drinks and water will be available. There will also be a raffle to win a trip to Ireland or cash prize of $2,000. March 19 Nativity Cathedral St. Joseph Altar BILOXI -- The Parish Life Committee of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary will display a St. Joseph Altar on Monday, March 19, in the Sacred Heart Center from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon. March 23-25 “Come and See Priesthood Discernment Retreat” Our Diocesan Vocation Office and St. Joseph’s Seminary College is spon- soring a “Come and See Priesthood Discernment Retreat” for all men 16 years and older. It is going to take place at St. Joseph Abbey in Covington, LA, March 23-25. There is no cost to you and transportation will be provided from Biloxi. Monthly Mass for People with Special Needs BILOXI -- The Int ernational Order of Alhambra Oran Caravan #67 is sponsoring a monthly Mass on the fourth Sunday of each month for people with special needs at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2090 Pass Road. Those participating or wishing to participate in Mass are requested to arrive by 1:30 p.m. Following each Mass will be a social in the Parish Hall for some refreshments.
