he sixth annual Watts to
Water awards ceremony was
held during the Denver Metro
Building Owners and Manag-
ers Association luncheon June
8 at the Denver Athletic Club. The cer-
emony recognized outstanding build-
ings in the greater Denver metro area
for superior achievement in the reduc-
tion of energy and water consumption.
Watts toWater is a first-of-its-kind
program dedicated to the energy- and
water-use reduction of commercial
properties in the Denver metro area.
The program is sponsored by Denver
Metro BOMA and partnered with the
City Energy Project, the Denver Mayor’s
Office and the Environmental Protec-
tion Agency.
Watts toWater offers participants
free sustainability training, tips and
advice on how to best use Energy
Star Portfolio Manager. The program
educates participants about the most
recent rebates and incentives for ener-
gy and water conservation.
Last year,Watts toWater members
saved 7.8 million kilowatt hours of
electricity, and 14 million kilo British
thermal units of steam and natural
gas. That’s enough energy to power
more than 500,000 square feet of
Denver office space. In addition,
Watts to Water members reported
more than 9.3 million gallons of
water savings.
In addition, Watts to Water
recognized other program
participants that achieved 10
percent or more energy or water
savings from 2014 to 2015.
