relationship. The exclusivity of the
program also is compelling. Only
IREM Industry Partners are invited
to attend IREM events, with the
exclusion of the annual golf tourna-
ment, which this year allowed the
chapter not only to fund scholar-
ships for the next year, but also to
send Brent’s Place, the Chapter’s
community partner, almost $5,000.
The goal is a “sold out” event next
year and a $10,000 donation.
IREM’s Work Life Empowerment
Luncheons have become a brand of
the chapter and awarded the IREM
Innovation Award for 2015. The
chapter focused in on the common-
ality of the attendees, which turned
out to be that everyone is very busy,
distracted and struggles to find the
time to balance all the priorities life
requires.
The success of the event begins
with “Location. Location. Location.”
IREM luncheons are held at Del
Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse
and include the signature salad,
filet mignon, potatoes, vegetables,
and alternating chocolate mousse
or cheesecake. It’s not your stan-
dard association lunch! Yes, we
realize that space is limited, but
that seems to be a fair trade. Then
we add professional speakers and
topics that speak to everyone in the
room, whether they are a property
manager at any level or a service
provider.
The series began in 2014 with
high-profile local and national
speakers. We hear from attendees
that the Work Life Empowerment
Luncheons enable them to create a
more positive perspective and more
productive attitude. The 2015 lun-
cheons were engaging and included
such topics as: Presenting your
professional best; Stop living life
like an emergency; and Armed or
unarmed: Preparing for the active
shooter scenario.
Next year’s calendar of speak-
ers is set. Speakers will include a
local news personality who will
be reminding professionals that
“every story matters.” Other topics
will include lessons learned from
a real Tuskegee Airman and “Life’s
an adventure … Don’t die without
one!” will close the year.
You are invited to join IREM Great-
er Denver in 2016 – it’s time to get
to know property management’s
premier organization. Go to www.
iremdenver.org to view the events
and investigate what the IREM
designations can do to enhance
personal portfolios and build excep-
tional teams.
