enver Metro BOMA has a
long-term vision of being the
premier resource and driving
force for the advancement of
the Colorado commercial real
estate industry.This year, we focused
on continuing the push for required
changes to ensure we have the proper
foundation to reach this vision.
Advocacy continues to be a main
focus.We are the only association
with a seat at the table for the 2015
building and fire code amendments.
Members worked for almost a year to
protect the interest of building owners,
while ensuring that Denver and other
jurisdictions have the proper codes
and resources in place for a safe and
productive industry.This, plus other
BOMA wins in advocacy with the state
Legislature and Public Utilities Com-
mission, show that BOMA has formed
the required partnerships and trusted
reputation required to lead the indus-
try.
Educating members is another criti-
cal focus. Classes
and seminar atten-
dance is growing
and Denver Metro
BOMA is offering
more opportuni-
ties. Earlier this
year, the new BOMA
International Asset
Management pro-
gramwas offered
and the new BOMI
HP Series recently
began. Next year, the
association plans to
offer the other two
classes. And because
of BOMA’s partnership with the Denver
City Energy Project, all three of these
classes are offered at a tremendous
discount.
While advocacy and education are
main focuses, that does not mean
we cannot have some fun. One of the
benefits I enjoy most is networking
with the more than 400 professional
members in the commercial real estate
industry. In 2015, we offered monthly
luncheons with prominent keynote
speakers, the annual trade show in
May, a golf tournament over the sum-
mer and the prestigiousThe Outstand-
ing Building of theYear awards, which
takes place Nov. 6.These all provided
different opportunities to network with
peers. Getting to know others in the
industry increases your resources and
knowledge base; service providers can
offer expert advice while owners and
managers can help with trends in the
market and solutions to problems.
As this year comes to a close, the
20th annual gift and toy drive kicks off.
The BOMA Gift andToy Drive began as
a small collection of buildings gather-
ing a few hundred items for charitable
organizations.Today, it is one of Colo-
rado’s largest gift and toy drives in the
area, with more than 100 buildings
from Longmont to Castle Rock collect-
ing nearly 25,000 donations that are
distributed to more than two dozen
major local charities.
The drive starts the week of Nov. 9,
when volunteers will deliver collec-
tion boxes to participating buildings. In
December, the boxes are picked up by
volunteers and donations are sorted by
more than 100 BOMAmembers before
being distributed to charities including
Mount Saint Vincent’s Home, Denver
Children’s Home, Center forWork
Education and Employment, Champa
House, Colorado Coalition for the
Homeless,The Delores Project, Denver
Children’s Advocacy Center, Father
Woody’s GatewayWomen’s Center, Jef-
fco Action Center, SafeHouse Denver
andVisiting Nurses Association.
For 95 years BOMA has stood as a
leader in representing our industry.
Without the support of Denver Metro
BOMA’s building owners, property
managers and allied members, none
of the above is possible. We appreciate
our great members and look forward to
continuing to advance the commercial
real estate industry in 2016.

he Institute of Real Estate
Management is an interna-
tional community of real
estate managers dedicated
to ethical business practices,
maximizing the value of investment
real estate, and promoting superior
management through education and
information sharing.
An affiliate of the National Asso-
ciation of Realtors, IREM is the home
for all industry professionals con-
nected to real estate management –
and the only orga-
nization serving
both the multifam-
ily and commercial
sectors. We believe
that good man-
agement matters
and well-managed
properties pay divi-
dends in terms of
value and quality
of life.
IREM credentials,
including the certified property
manager, accredited residential
manager, accredited commercial
manager and accredited manage-
ment organization are known and
trusted throughout the industry, and
earned through experience and edu-
cation, which are the keys to setting
IREM designees apart from the pack.
Within the IREM Greater Denver
chapter, slow, sustainable growth
has been the motto for several years.
Even though it can be painful to
let go of comfortable routines, the
greater Denver chapter is proud to
have several efforts recognized and
awarded.
The IREM Greater Denver Industry
Partner Program is one of the most
attractive ways for service providers
to get face time with property man-
agement decision-makers, creating
a foundation for building a mutually
beneficial and prosperous business
