IA designs branded, flexible
headquarters space for ViaWest
V
iaWest is a Denver-based network provider of data centers, managed services
and cloud solutions. IA provided interior architectural services for its corporate
headquarters relocation.
Client objectives included integrating technology into the design that would help en-
able collaboration. IA worked closely with ViaWest’s internal team to fully understand and
develop the technology goals for the project. Once these were established, IA collaborated
with theAV design team to provide the appropriate solutions for videoconferencing, shared
collaboration and environmental graphics.
An interior staircase provides easy access within the client’s secure two-story of-
fice. It features a structural suspension system and appears to be light and floating.
The stainless steel tubes offer the necessary structural support as well as the guard-
rail and handrail system.
Through an integrated design approach, IA providedViaWest and its employees a brand-
ed, forward-thinking workspace, designed to provide maximum flexibility for future.
PROJECT OF THE WEEK • OFFICE FURNITURE
Teammates outfits historic
Cabela’s building in Nebraska
T
eammates Commercial Interiors recently completed furniture design and installation
services for Cabela’s at its historic Old Corporate building on 13th and Illinois in down-
town Sidney, Nebraska. Teammates and Acquilano Leslie worked with Cabela’s to
preserve and highlight the structure of the historic building, which at one time served as both
Cabela’s first retail store and its first corporate office.
Original brick wall and timber beam construction were refinished to their original beauty
while replacing and expanding windows to bring more light into the space. Dick and Jim
Cabela’s original private offices, built out with handsome wood and glass partitions, were
left untouched as conference rooms to display photography showcasing the history of the
company. New private offices were constructed with demountable Trendwall product, to
make future reconfiguration simple and less damaging to the structure. Wood columns
throughout the building made workstations space-planning a challenge, which Teammates
met with custom cut Teknion’s Boulevard and Expansion furniture, allowing integration of
these columns while maintaining efficient use of space. The panel partitions and screens
incorporated glass and light finishes to bring light into the previously cavernous space.

Rowland+Broughton
brings a modern
aesthetic to a classic
Aspen condo
R
owland+Broughton Architecture/
Interior Design recently com-
pleted the remodel of Maison
Bianca, a two-level, 2,000-square-foot
condominium in Aspen's downtown
core. This unique project was part of the
firm’s total remodel of the 12-unit Der
Berghof condominium building, which
was Aspen's first condominium building
from 1964.
This versatile, light-filled space was
mindfully designed considering cur-
rent spatial trends. With the intention
of capturing Aspen Mountain views and
creating a feeling of spaciousness, the
interior layouts were designed to flow
onto one another and create open, mul-
tifunctional interiors. Environmentally
friendly and low maintenance materials,
such as concrete wall panels and sustainable flooring by LV Wood, provide a clean,
modern aesthetic throughout the space. A minimalist approach to furnishings and
design details such as a floating, glass-rail stairway, encourage focus outward. The
project included the addition of a third level with a large, partially shaded deck area,
a paneled green roof to help reduce solar gain and realigned exterior stairs to allow
for private entry courtyards for the lower units.
