A
re you ready to update your look? Con-
sidering a new color palette. Consider
taking a closer look at ColorMix 2016.
Sherwin Williams presented its 2016 Color
Forecast put together by their color specialists.
The color forecast taps into the zeitgeist and
captures the needs of our time with the aim of
creating a shared color consciousness. Together
the four themes for 2016 represent: “Passionate
pursuit. Fresh mindfulness. Vintage workman-
ship. Social engagement. And technology and ma-
terials that seem to come from out of this world.
We’re taking the best of everything life has to offer
and indulging in the moment.”
Pure Vida is the first and the most influential of
the four color forecasts. Within it, the elements that
remind us to live well, be well and stay well are
vital to creating spaces to unplug. Natural miner-
als: honed and sheer. Ancient alabaster and marble
hues. Warmer grays turning to khaki and blushed
neutrals. New therapies draw us to the colors of
nomadic sand baths and holistic massage rooms.
We’re awakening from the recession, hungry for
new orderliness, ready to feed the spirit, make
memories and savor the moment.
The Sherwin Williams color of the year, Alabas-
ter, sets the tone for harmo-
ny and balance. At a time of
interconnected commotion
and overstimulation, Ala-
baster offers a sense of per-
sonal solace. According to
Jackie Jordan, Sherwin-Wil-
liams director of color mar-
keting, “Alabaster represents
a straightforward and nec-
essary shift to mindfulness.
It provides an oasis of calmness, spirituality and
‘less is more’ visual relief. Alabaster is neither stark
nor overly warm, but rather an understated and al-
luring white.”
In a recent color consultation with Wendi Med-
ved, Ph.D., owner and pharmacist at Coast to Coast
Compounding, she was looking to find the right
colors for the Wellness Center that is a new on-site
space for hosting events around health and heal-
ing. The warm gray that borders on khaki of Neu-
tral Ground and the light sage of Wool Skein came
together to create an intimate event space that is
inviting and nurturing.
