And then all the various Thanksgiving Day athletic events on TV. I asked several residents, "What are you most thankful for?” For the most part, their answers were something like "I'm thankful for my wonderful family" or "I'm thankful for my wonderful grandchildren." Also on the most mentioned list were good friends, financial well-being, Windsor Gardens, good health, a wonderful spouse and the list goes on. I cannot over stress the importance of the things on this list, however, I wonder if maybe we tend to overlook some other things we should be thankful for. We might consider being thankful for this great country, the United States of America, that we are blessed to be living in. I think we are inclined to take all the rights and privileges that we enjoy for granted and just assume everyone enjoys those same things. These rights were guaranteed to us by our founding fathers in the writing of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. However, the majority of the people around the world do not enjoy these freedoms. Many of us don't understand what a unique and wonderful country America is. Those of you who, like my family and I, have lived in other countries around the world are very aware of this.
