About a year ago we were told that there would be a big box store, a cinema, various restaurants and shops and both single family housing and apartments. We were also told that the project was moving along as final sign-offs by the Air Force had been arranged, and that construction should begin within six months. Obviously that didn’t happen, and the flow of information came to a halt. The only information forthcoming over the past year was that the developers would be required to put up a large sum of money and the Air Force would be required to sign their final approval. The story was that the Air Force wouldn't sign until the developer put up the money, and the developer wouldn't put up the money until the Air Force signed off. In other words, a dead lock. Over the past fewweeks I have made numerous calls to the developer, the International Risk Group (IRG), and the Lowry Redevelopment Authority. I was finally able to get through to a gentleman with IRG who is involved with the project. He told me that over the past year there have been technical, financial, legal and environmental aspects which had to be worked out. Apparently there were also some approvals necessary from the state, the city of Denver, and the Lowry Redevelopment Authority. At this point, all the necessary approvals, except those from the Air Force, have been worked out. I was told that a group of consultants out of Dick Gilmore, Board President PRESIDENT'S PEN continued on page 4
