Meeting space renovated at Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency

by Jill Jamieson-Nichols

The Grand Hyatt Denver and Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center hotels will undergo renovations of their meeting and event spaces at a combined cost of approximately $10 million.

The renovations are designed to provide “bold and fresh aesthetics” that reflect the downtown hotels’ brands and the Mile High City.

At the Grand Hyatt, located at 1750 Welton St., the conference space will be completely modernized. The Aspen (formerly Grand) and Colorado (formerly Imperial) ballrooms, as well as numerous meeting rooms located on two interconnected levels, will receive new floor and wall coverings in patterns inspired by downtown Denver’s urban grid, using grey and sunset rust tones. Custom light fixtures and “refreshed” elevator lobbies also are part of the renovations. Looney and Associates is the architect.

“Grand Hyatt Denver features innovative design and a dramatic, exciting atmosphere.

We create spectacular events, and we look forward to welcoming our new and returning guests to our renovated event and social spaces,” Mark Stiebeling, general manager, said in a press release.

The conference and meeting space upgrades come on the heels of The Grand Hyatt Denver’s recent $33 million renovation.

The 1,100-room Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center, which recently underwent a $23 million guest room update, has 60,600 square feet of versatile board room and meeting room spaces, including the Capitol and Centennial ballrooms and adjoining prefunction areas. The renovations designed by Rowland+ Broughton feature layers of texture and color designed to evoke the surrounding mountains, and contemporary furnishings and design details to create a modern, yet residential, feel.

The hotel foyer functionality will be enhanced with furnishings that can be configured for a variety of meeting and convention seating styles. One meeting space will provide collaborative seating and work tables for multifunctional use.

“We look forward to welcoming our customers to meet in our new space, where they will find innovative design that will complement both business and social gatherings,” said hotel General Manager Ed Bucholtz.

Renovations at both hotels are scheduled to be completed by the end of the month.
