If you don’t think Colorado Mills is hopping, just wait. Or at least plenty of children and young adults will soon be literally hopping in the newest anchor tenant in the Lakewood mall. Jumpstreet, the indoor trampoline park, will soon be opening in Colorado Malls. It will be taking the space of the former Woodward Skatepark of Denver near the movie theater. “It will have 40,618 square feet, about the same size as the one at Kipling and Bowles, which is about 43,000 sf. But it will be bigger than the one in Thornton, which is about 25,000 sf,” said Mike Quinlan, who handled the lease with fellow Newmark Knight Frank Frederick Ross brokers Susan Karsh and Frank Griffin. Jumpstreet 9 Inc. is the owner of the privately held and locally owned company that launched the concept with the Thornton store about five years ago. Quinlan said he expects the Jumpstreet to open in late August. “We don’t need to do much to the space,” he said. “All of the skateboard ramps are removed and we need to install the trampolines.” Quinlan said he thinks the demand generated by the Jumpstreet will far exceed that from the skate park. “From what I understand, the ownership of the skate park had changed hands several times and the last group closed it six or eight months ago,” he said. “I think there was pretty thin demand for a skate park,” he said. “I think a lot of kids would prefer to go outside, especially in nice weather. But that is just conjecture on my part. I wasn’t involved with that deal.” But he said a Jumpstreet draws from a wide area. “Mom and dad can drop their kids off and then go shopping at the mall or catch a movie,” Quinlan said. He said he could imagine people driving quite a distance and making Jumpstreet a destination trip. “I could see people coming from the Evergreen area and even Boulder,” he said. It’s also possible that people from the east, possibly even from the Stapleton area, would hop on Interstate 70 to visit the Jumpstreet. “I think people will be coming from a 15- to 20-mile radius,” Quinlan said. “One new concept at this Jumpstreet will be a Which Way Pizza Co,” Quinlan said. “You will design your own pizza and they will bring it to your table. It will be great for birthday parties.” This will be the fourth Jumpstreet in the Denver area and the ninth overall. There are also two in Arizona and three in Texas, he said. “I think this will be the last one in the Denver area, at least for the immediate future,” he said.
