Mortenson, HKS to design, build Gaylord project

The Aurora Economic Development Council

The Aurora Economic Development Council announced at its annual A-List dinner that RIDA Development Corp. hired Mortenson Construction and HKS Architects to design and build the Gaylord Hotel and Conference Center in Aurora.

“This is yet another important step in bringing this very special project to realization. Mortenson and HKS are the right partners, and we are pleased to add them to our team,” said Ira Mitzner, president of RIDA Development Corp.

HKS Architects will do the design and Mortenson will oversee all construction of the Gaylord project, which is expected to create more than 10,000 construction jobs.

Joining Mortenson on the Gaylord project is Welbro Building Corp.

The Gaylord Colorado Hotel and Conference Center is an approximately $800 million project that will feature 1,500 rooms, multiple restaurants, 400,000 square feet of conference space and other amenities on 85 acres of land just south of Peña Boulevard, east of Tower Road and near E-470.
