Auraria Higher Education Center parking project complete

Pahl Architecture led the design team for the new parking garage on the Auraria Campus at the corner of Fifth and Walnut streets in downtown Denver.

The project is one of the campus’ first projects planned and completed for the Fifth Street corridor.

The four-story parking garage serves the campus, home to the Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver. The garage totals 307,500 square feet and includes one level along Fifth and Larimer streets comprising 12,323 sf of mixed-variety retail space designed for LEED-NC Gold Certification.

The financial construction cost was approximately $17.7 million for the garage, serving the needs of the campus, which lost a number of surface lots due to new construction on campus.

In addition to Pahl Architecture, the project team included Auraria Higher Education Center, owner; GH Phipps Construction Cos., contractor; Carl Walker Inc., parking/structural engineer; Bowman|Vision Land, civil engineer; The RMH Group Inc., MEP; Group14 Engineering Inc., sustainability/LEED; Stantec Vibe, retail consultant; Felsburg Holt & Ullevig, traffic study; studioInsite LLC, urban planning/landscape; Rider Levett Bucknall, cost consultant; and Rimrock Technology, a BCER Group, data/ communications.
