Dallas-based Bedford Lodging recently broke ground on the Springhill Suites Lakewood Golden Colorado Mills. Cameron, Texas, general contractor Ebco is building the project while Dallas architect Mayse and Associates designed it. According to Jeff Blackman, founder and president of Bedford Lodging, an agreement was reached with Simon, owner of the Colorado Mills Mall, for Bedford Lodging to purchase the 2-acre parcel at 1299 Colorado Mills Parkway in Lakewood for the hotel construction. Scheduled to open next January, the four-story, 127-guest room hotel will have larger guest rooms (averaging 400 square feet) and feature furniture co-created with design icon West Elm. In addition to its location adjacent to the Colorado Mills outlet mall, the property is part of the Denver West corridor, near St. Anthony Hospital, Western Area Power Administration and National Renewable Energy Laboratory. “The Lakewood/Golden submarket is an excellent location for this all-suites brand to serve the expanding metro Denver lodging market,” Blackman said.
