Gulf Pine Catholic • May 22, 2026 23 After the Friday school Mass on May 1, the fifthgrade students at St. Vincent dePaul School were pinned as the future leaders of the school. Current sixth graders placed a gold cross pin on the collar of each current fifth grader. Then in front of everyone gathered in the church, they pledged to be good role models; wear their uniforms proudly and come to school every day prepared and ready to learn; and most importantly to be lights for Christ in our school and community. Each student brought flowers and placed them in a basket in front of a beautiful statue of Mary. Then Weston Kolb brought up a pillow carrying a crown of flowers. Once they reached the sanctuary, Ophelia Lee placed the crown on Mary’s head. It was a beautiful way to begin the first school Mass in May. Hail Mary, full of grace; pray for us! LOUIS -- St. Stanislaus College has selected senior Charlie Hoffmann as its nominee for the 2025 Lindy Callahan scholar-athlete program. The honor recognizes Hoffmann’s outstanding academic performance, athletic achievement, and active participation in extracurricular activities throughout his time at St. Stanislaus. His nomination reflects the school’s longstanding commitment to developing student-athletes of strong character who excel both in the classroom and on the field, embodying the values of excellence and integrity that define the St. Stanislaus community. The Lindy Callahan scholar-athlete program was founded in 1996 to honor the legacy of Lindy Callahan, a celebrated coach and longtime athletic director at Gulfport High School. The program recognizes student-athletes across the region who demonstrate the ability to balance high academic standards with competitive athletic involvement.
