Gulf Pine Catholic • April 24, 2026 15 The sixth grade students at St. Vincent dePaul School made Easter Baskets for the residents of Notre Dame Del La Mer Retirement Home and Assisted Living facility in Bay St. Louis. For several weeks, the sixth graders collected items for the baskets such as large print puzzle books, socks, individually wrapped snack cakes, individually wrapped candy, lotion, tissues, cough drops, and peppermints. Finally, they assembled the baskets including colorful plastic eggs and attached a hand-colored card to each basket. This year, they made and donated over 60 baskets. Most of the children will never meet the senior citizens who received the baskets, but they were so happy to share God's love with them. Sixth grade always goes last; and they always present a live version. This year it was very impactful; “Jesus” walked the stations across the gym floor and the stage was “Calvary.” Cindy Cox and Briley Lassabe practiced with their sixth grade students for several weeks leading up to their chance to act out the stations. All of the sixth graders were able to help lead this prayer: some as “actors;” some as narrators; some as sound techs and prop managers; and some as liturgical dancers. Even the part of the school choir helped to sing between each station. The younger students and parents were so appreciative to have been able to enter more deeply into Jesus’ Passion and pray with the sixth graders.
