Gulf Pine Catholic • March 27, 2026 17 Students from St. Patrick Catholic High School earned numerous awards and recognitions at the recent Regions I and VI Science and Engineering Fair, showcasing their talent, creativity, and dedication to scientific research. Several students received prestigious special awards from national and regional organizations. Collin Murphy was recognized with multiple honors, including the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association Science Award, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Award, the United States Metric Society Award, the Center for STEM Education Award, and the United States Navy Excellence in Science Award. Murphy was also named Third Best of the Science Fair and selected as an alternate for the International Science and Engineering Fair. Haley Longoria and Benjamin Lora each received the United States Air Force Excellence in Science Award. Lora was also presented with the Regeneron Scientific Research Award. Addison Hightower earned the Citadel Award for Innovative Science, while John Ray received theAmerican Psychological St. Patrick, Biloxi, students earns top honors at Regional Science and Engineering Fair Congratulations to Landon Broom, Sam Ulku, Mattie Codella, and Parker Aguirre for earning the highest scores in their grade and qualifying for the MGCCC Middle School Math Tournament, advancing to the district level in Gautier! A special shoutout to Landon Broom who placed fifth overall among all eighth graders as well as Parker Aguirre who placed third overall among all seventth graders at this level! Great job, everyone! St. Patrick, Biloxi, students qualify for MGCCC Middle School Math Tournament Society Award. Michelle Jumpa was honored with the Society for In Vitro Biological Research Award, and Nathan Pyron received the Naval Science Research Award. In addition to special recognitions, St. Patrick students earned top placements across several scientific categories. In Behavioral and Social Sciences, MaryWeeks and Baylin Rockholt placed first, John Ray earned second place, and Jenna Lin and Isabella Ponder placed third. Benjamin Lora earned first place in Biochemistry, while Nathan Pyron took first place in Animal Sciences. In Earth, Space and Environmental Sciences, Collin Murphy placed first and Haley Longoria earned second place. Mary Owens and Brees Winters captured first place in Organic Chemistry. The Biomedical and Health Sciences category saw several St. Patrick winners. Addison Hightower placed first in Class 3, Brooklyn Guymon placed second in Class 3, and Emily Stelling earned first place in Class 4. Michelle Jumpa received second place in Microbiology, and Bryce Kettner and Olivia Karcher took first place in Physics. School officials said the strong showing reflects the students’ commitment to research and innovation, as well as the support of the school’s science program. The achievements highlight St. Patrick Catholic High School’s continued success in preparing students for future studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
