18 Gulf Pine Catholic • March 13, 2026 On February 22 during the 8:30 Sunday morning Mass, Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church celebrated the Vietnamese New Year, known as Tết. It was a beautiful and meaningful celebration filled with tradition, prayer, and gratitude. Tết marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year and is a time for honoring ancestors, welcoming blessings, and praying for health and prosperity in the year ahead. We were truly blessed to share in such a vibrant and joyful cultural celebration. Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Parish, Biloxi, celebrates Vietnamese New Year St. Alphonsus held a hands-on stations of the cross devotion. Arranged in groups within their Faith Houses, students rotated through different activities led by a teacher. Students filled bags with items that symbolized every station of the cross, engaged in prayer through a visio divina, made Lenten prayer chains, and shared Lenten family traditions. St. Alphonus Catholic School, Ocean Springs, holds hands-on Stations of the Cross devotion Holy Trinity Catholic School participated in March of the Mayors which is a statewide canned food drive in Mississippi. Bay St Louis’s item was red beans, and students brought in over 400 bags! Food items will donated to the Hancock County Food Pantry and King’s Kitchen to serve the less fortunate. Holy Trinity Catholic School, Bay St. Louis, particpiates in food drive St. Alphonsus KCs Council #5654 celebrates parishioners married 50 years or more The St Alphonsus Knights of Columbus Council #5654 along with Father Mike Snyder & the assistance of the KC Ladies Auxiliary, celebrated parishioners married 50 years or more with the yearly anniversary dinner. The couples celebrated ranged from 50-63 years of marriage. The following couples & their years the years of marriage celebrated included: Jesse & Mary Alice Kanode (57), Patrick & Patricia Mitchell (50), Joe & Trudy Sasser (57), Mike & Alin Bourgeois (52), Chuck & Barbara Nannery (53), Pete & Sandra Halat (63), Gene & Marcella Janus (56), Dennis & Betty Richardson (58), Roy & Mary Smith (50), Berry & Pat Zuber (50), Darryl & Ann Thibodeaux (62), & Sharon & Mick Barthes (59). The Halat’s had the honor of cutting the anniversary cake for celebrating the longest marriage.
