Gulf Pine Catholic • February 27, 2026 19 On February 7-8, men from Sacred Heart Parish in Hattiesburg gathered at the Visitation Monastery in Mobile for their annual parish men’s retreat. Twentynine men representing various parish ministries participated in the weekend of prayer, reflection, and fellowship. Father Sergio expressed his gratitude to the retreat team members who assisted in presenting the program: Chris Vineyard, Tanner Dean, Lee Boyette, Jens Graversen, and Ronnie Doleac. He also thanked Father Maxwell for his inspiring presentation on the Kerygma -- the first proclamation of the Good News. As a follow-up to the retreat, participants are encouraged to form or join small discipleship groups (“quads”) or take part in the parish’s adult faith formation classes to continue growing in their faith. Sacred Heart Parish, Hattiesburg, holds evangelization retreat “Come and see” (John 1:39) The St. James council hosted the inaugural Free-Throw Championship on February 1, welcoming kids of all ages came to shoot, pass, and have fun with our St. James seminarians and pastor Father Ryan McCoy. The event, also supported by brother Knights from other area councils, raised over $800 for the seminarians.
