Gulf Pine Catholic • July 11, 2025 25 On Thursday, April 24, the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence held its annual Community Recognition Luncheon where the Center honors those in the community that contribute each day to the Center’s success. At the luncheon, the Center recognized certain community partners that have done an outstanding job serving as advocates for the Center. Stacey Riley, Center CEO, knows that the Center would not exist without strong community support. “We host this annual luncheon to show our appreciation for those who support our efforts,” explained Riley. “We love recognizing the individuals and industries that go above and beyond to support our mission.” This year, Nativity BVM School was honored to receive the Youth Award! Nativity School began its Center assistance in 2023 with a supply drive held during Catholic Schools’ Week. The school community collected goods and monetary donations that were taken to the Center by the Kindergarten class. Since then, Nativity School continues to support the Center through donations and supplies. For Nativity principal Traci Kessler, receiving this award was a monumental achievement for the school. “We teach our students to have a servant’s heart. Helping those in our community by sharing what we are blessed to have is one way that we put this into action.” Attending the luncheon with Kessler and helping accept the award on the school’s behalf was fifth grader, Harper Lamey. For Lamey, attending the luncheon was a special experience. “It was an honor to represent my school to receive an award from such a good organization,” stated Lamey. “It is so important that we support our local community.” Kessler knows the award was definitely the result of a schoolwide effort. “It was my honor to accept this award on behalf of our school,” remarked Kessler. “The generosity of our parents, students, faculty, and staff never ceases to amaze me!” Congratulations, Nativity School, on this incredible honor and thank you to the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence for all you do to help those in need.
